Best Local Airport
If you are planning to fly to the Emerald Coast, we’d suggest Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS), located in Fort Walton about forty minutes west of where the villa is located in the Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort. For taxi service we’d suggest using Uber or Lyft. However we’d also suggest you consider using car rental service since there are numerous fun things to do on your vacation that require a drive to get there. Accessing The Villa
The Villa’s address is 8537 Turnberry Court, Miramar Beach Florida 32550.
Once you arrive at Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort, enter the resort through the bay side gate, which when traveling east on 98, is a left hand turn off the highway. Keep to the left in the entrance, taking the ‘visitor’ lane and pull up to the guard gate. Inform Sandestin Security of the address of the villa, and your last date of stay. They will provide you with a slip to put on your dash that will allow access to the resort throughout your stay.
Once through the guard gate turn right at the circle onto Heron Walk Drive. At the next circle, go around to the second exit onto Baytowne Ave. The entrance to the Turnberry Community is little ways up Baytowne and is on the right, look for the signs that announce Turnberry. Once you turn right at the main entrance onto Turnberry Court, take your first right past the lake, and the second left into the parking lot at the foot of the town home building. Parking is not reserved, simply find an open spot.
Front Door Automated Lock
You should have received your door code through your rental service messaging service prior to your stay. If not, text your host Lena Mathies.
Your door code will unlock the front door from the outside. To lock the front door from inside the villa, twist the indoor key knob clockwise a quarter of a turn (2 o’clock position) until you hear a buzz sound. This will disengage the outdoor handle from the door lock. To unlock the door, twist the inside key knob counter clockwise a quarter of a turn (10 o’clock position) until you hear a click.
When exiting the house, disengage the door knob (2 o’clock position) from the inside first, exit and close the door. The lock does not provide the ability to lock the door from the outside keypad.
Wi-Fi Access
Wi-Fi access information is detailed on the framed information sheet in the kitchen. If you have any issues connecting, please text your host Lena Mathies.
Groceries and Supplies
We have a neighborhood Publix, liquor store, UPS, and various other stores just off the resort in the Grand Boulevard shopping center. There’s an east gate out of the resort for direct access to this shopping center. The dashboard slip you receive when you first enter the resort works here as well. (When returning through the east gate, make sure and take the left hand lane as the right hand lane is automatic and is reserved for homeowners.) The guard shack on this side is staffed working hours. If you’re traveling late at night, use highway 98 and the main Sandestin entrance.
A/C Control
The heating and cooling system is very efficient, and will keep your town home at a comfy temperature you prefer regardless of the time of year. The A/C and heat thermostat is located at the top of the stairwell.
The thermostat allows you to set a temperature range using the small arrow buttons under the warm and cold settings. After adjusting either temperature, press the ‘Done’ button to apply. Please keep warm and cold settings seven or so degrees apart.
Trash Pickup
Sandestin provides trash collection twice every morning between 6AM and 10AM. Please place trash in tightly tied trash bags in front of the trash collection sign to the west of the entry stairwell in the morning. Please do not place trash out prior to 6AM or after 10AM – critters and birds in the area love to dig through your trash, so trash placed in the pickup area outside of pickup hours will eventually be torn open and thrown about.
To discard cardboard boxes, please break boxes down into manageable size, fold and place in the same trash pickup area in the morning.
Smart TVs
There are two new ROKU smart televisions in the unit. Both are connected to the WIFI provided. Please avoid resetting TVs to factory settings, which resets WIFI access.
Feel free to install your favorite streaming apps and enter your personal account login information, just remember to reset the app before you leave! (If you forget, most services allow you to disconnect services from specific devices through their web sites.)
Accounts on services like Amazon Prime can be used to make purchases! Please remember to disconnect your accounts from the Smart TVs when your vacation stay ends. Purchases on your personal accounts due to forgotten account authentication on Smart TVs are not the responsibility of the owner of this town home.
Living Room Sony Bluetooth Soundbar
Directly underneath the Smart TV in the living room, we have a Sony HT-XT1 soundbar with a separate remote. When watching TV, click the input button until the display shows ‘TV’.
If you would like to listen to music, click the input button until the display shows ‘BT AU’, then on your mobile device, connect by searching for the ‘SONY:HT-XT1’ Bluetooth speaker.
Power Strips
Extra power strips are available in the first kitchen cabinet to the left of the sink. Please be so kind as to return these to the cabinet after use. Thank you!
Dishwasher
The dishwasher is quite easy to use. Dish washing soap packets are available in the sink cabinet. To start a wash, select the cleaning level on the left side of the unit, then press the Start button until the LED displays a scrolling ‘CLOSE DOOR’. Close the dishwasher door and the wash will commence.
To cancel an active wash, hold the Start button for around three seconds until the wash cycle lights go off, then close the door to clear the cycle.
Spare Towels plus Beach Towels
Spare towels, hand towels, and washcloths as well as a set of beach towels are available in the hall closet at the top of the stairwell.
When checking out, please leave dirty beach towels on the floor of the laundry room.
Beach Toys and Cooler
Various kids beach toys and snorkel gear are stored in the laundry room at the top of the stairwell. We have also provided you with a large size wheeled Colman cooler and beach totes for use on your trips to the bay or beach!
Washer / Dryer / Stick Vacuum
A large capacity washer and dryer are available in the laundry room at the top of the stairwell. Additionally there is a rechargeable Samsung stick vacuum available as well. Laundry soap is also available for use on the table in the laundry room.
Fire Extinguisher
A large and fully charged fire extinguisher is available in the kitchen pantry closet.
Electric BBQ
A smaller, four hamburger electric grill is available on the patio. Please do not use charcoal based grills in this area, it is a violation of our HOA rules and fire codes. There is an electrical outlet near the sliding glass door, and spare extension cords can be found in the kitchen cabinet to the left of the sink.
If you really want to BBQ with an open fire or charcoal, put all your fixins and burgers in the cooler and head over to the Jolee Island Nature Preserve on the bay, just south of the main Turnberry entrance. There are open pit BBQs, picnic tables, a kids fun house, and trails around the island to enjoy. Don’t forget your sunscreen and bring some bug spray! Dad might consider bringing his fishing rod and reel too, this is a great place to do a little bay fishing!
Next Door Neighbors
The nice couple that live adjacent to the Turnberry Villa entrance doorway are full time residents here in Sandestin. Please be respectful by avoiding playing loud music late at night or otherwise carrying on in the stairwell in a way that is not respectful of your neighbors.
Generally the soundproofing of Turnberry units is very good, so you shouldn’t be bothered or bother others with modest noise within your town home.
The neighbors also have a small dog that likes to bark at the door, just bark back mildly, he loves the attention. 😄
Check-in and Check-out
Check-in is 3PM, check-out is 10AM. No need to wash dishes, clean bed sheets, mop floors, or polish the silver! Our cleaning crew will take care of that. Just please be on your way by 10am! Our cleaning crew will arrive promptly at 10:30am. If you would like to help make their job a little easier, please pile your dirty towels and beach towels in the laundry room. Thank You!
